At certain age you begin to not appriciate certain things...

Over the weekend we went up to the beach to spend the last few days of summer with a friend couple of ours. It was lovely. I now have officially been "yesterday-ed" by those two little monsters of theirs, all because I did not know how to ride a "wiggle board", instead I ride a bike... :( Guess my time is gone....? There have been some hilarious conversations exchanged during our stay, some inspired these cartoons that I'm gonna be posting (guess I better go back to work then.)

Weekend date night film=> bLaCk SwAn

The end of summer is almost here, pretty soon we will have to give up skirts for long pants and thick sweaters :( For the last weekend of August, I recommend this film (and the previous "Mao's last dancer"). Both films depict ballet dancers, examining the inner characters and events. "Black Swan" is more of a "thriller" whereas "Mao's last Dancer"is more biographic. We are going to be seeing this film for our Friday date night ritual, after a recital in the city, which is another kind of fun!
Please excuse the commercial, wish I knew who to eliminate that!

Oh, we know, life is soooo un-easy for you!

Cats, mysterious creatures: They sleep in the day and play all night. Life of cats can be described as a series of soap opera, it never runs out of fun :)

KITSCH BIENNALE 2010

KITSCH BIENNALE 2008 was quite an experience. By the end of the show, KB 2010 was already on the blue print. Time flees! I still recall sketching the group of artists having afternoon wine (by wine, I mean "coffee", wink! ;) before the reception. The artists selected to participate the show are from all over the world, bond and united by KB to celebrate their passion in representational art. I am already looking forward to the next KB, it would be awesome if it can be held at my hometown :) But as far as I know, they still haven't gotten over the conceptual art fever.

Mao's Last Dancer- A quest to rediscover Heritage

The film is based on a true story, I don't think it would have ended so well in reality, given the political situation in China in the late 60's. People, different in age, background, race can meet because of a common interest in art, and can fall in love so deeply that nothing would be able to stop them, in fact, that love would grow even stronger with adversity.

Heritage

Speaking of "Heritage", America is definitely a melting pot of mix-blood and heritage. More people from other parts of the world immigrated to this country in the early19th century to pursue a better life, and that is still going on today. Often people would elaborate where their family came from and how proud they are to have inherited the blood. Funny thing is, when asking about their mother land? Most of them haven't even visited the place...! Some just too busy I guess...How can some people be SO PROUD of their heritage, that they don't even know what it is ? How can they claim to be a part of a culture but have no desire to know about that culture? I'm very confused:(

Foreign VS. Foreigner

21% of Americans own a passport, and 15% of them actually travel overseas. Some (fewer, I hope) Americans who do not travel overseas have the tendency to dislike people from other countries. These people usually have little respect for other cultures, and usually know very little about their own... It can't be comfortable for these people to travel overseas and actually become "foreigners", and worse, can't speak a word of the local language...

Now that's Foreign!

Random people skecthes

I know I must look ridiculous and perhaps even suspicious-My eyes sitting behind two very largely scaled dark lens, staring around for interesting subjects...God knows one day, someone may walk to me and say- "Hey, can I see what you are doing on me?" Maybe I should carry two sketch books, one filled with pretty people and things, the other one being totally honest and utterly unflattering. ..

Drops of life

No doubt, packing is definitely a skill good to have. Try packing for moving over seas, pure nightmare!

Sketches!

Best place for sketch artists? China Town, New York. Why? Because they don't give a crap about you drawing them at all. If it's in Little Italy I would probably not be able to stay too long in the same spot, because people there do not like to be stared at, and they make a point of clarifying that to you, with their fest...
