My Pre--art school days...

Found some 15 yr old work while sorting old files. When I was a teenager I took up Taekwondo and absolutely loved it.  Although it gave me so many bruises (somehow never suffered a broken bone amazingly).
Watching the 2012 Olympic really got the memories going! I've always admired athletes in every field, and even if one isn't into any sports, learning the spirit of sportsmanship can be a great quality.

What is your Fach?

RISD grad Seth MacFarlane and Anna-Jane Casey perform Seven and a Half Cents - BBC Proms 2012. I've always been very impressed with Macfarlane's vocal ability, whether it is him doing multiparty characters with total distinctive style on Family Guy, or belting something out like this live. I think every one has a singer side hidden somewhere inside, don't we? Go and get a placement exam, you might be surprised :)

Bahahahahaha -- seriously?

Recently a deteriorated fresco was "restored" by an amateur artist. ok, I think the person has some potential, but this is just not working out for the fresco. Nonetheless, This unfortunate event teaches a valuable lesson-- always ask for the CV with work examples attached, especially when Jesus might be at risk...

I don't know if Friddie's musical had gone into commercial production or else, but I sure had a heck lot of fun creating the character design..!

A Conversation With Julia Schwartz

As an artist trained to draw and paint from both imagination and life, I am always attracted to color, form,light(contrast) and relationship. "Color" makes me happy, or it can be counter productive. "Form" produces energy and turns the untangible to something we can visualize. "Light" exists in contrast with shadow, it is the essence of Chiaroscuro -- something every artist dreams to master. And, "relationship" is the most important of all. Just as we are all placed in some kind of relationship with families, friends or co-workers, our paintings and sculptures are also in those symbiotic relationships. However, I can never let myself paint like Julia Schwartz. Not professionally, at least. I don't understand many painters and their work. I can say that I am attracted to them, but I am unable to comprehend what is really going on in the artist's head.  However here is an interview by John Heed with Julia Schawartz I found interesting.
