Animal sketch time!!

Fweety the porcupine

THE ROCKETTES SHOW SKETCH!!

The radio city Rockettes show is awesome! It was chessy yet cheerful. It's much like a junior version of the Broadway show and a happier version of a episode of Lawrence Walk.. It was very impressive with the massive stage set, the eye driving choreography and the lavish lighting, especially the animated city view and introduction that actually looked convincing. Normally I don't expect theaters make such efforts on CGI stuff but this was exceptionally well done. Great night indeed.

Character Design

Inspired by "HellboyII"

"Creature Unknown"

I was watching "HellboyII" yesterday and was really impressed about the movie character design. Director Guillermo del Toro also wrote and directed movie "Laberinto del fauno El" which was quite depressing...

It was a great performance and I truly enjoyed it. It is very kind of the AVA to offer free resident program to under-privileged and deserving talents nationwide. Among the performing residents there were young high school graduates, people with criminal justice backgrounds or even a football player, together they presented such a wonderful night of Russian romances.

Winter Break

Today is the first day of the winter break, which will go from now to sometime in January. I have been really busy in the past a couple of days trying to organize my studio and things in general. Though I have been working on a series of oil sketches of animals whenever there is time to spare from working in between serious assignments and commissions. Just to have some fun, here's the "freaking out hen".

LOUIS B. SLOAN (1932-2008)

Yesterday I attended the PAFA memorial service in honor of Louis Sloan. I didn't have the privilege of studying with him but many of the academy current faculty members have when they were students. Lou's oil paintings including portraits, still life and landscapes are being exhibited in the PAFA museum and the exhibition will run to March.

Big Apple Tuba Concert +Sketches

The crowd was insane in New York City! I have probably stepped on more feet than I ever have in my life. However, I survived and even manage to escape without a black-eye. Here's what I have in the sketch book today.

Trying to move around in New York city is tough, trying to move around in New York city during holiday season is even tougher. I was able to produce some really interesting sketches thanks to the tuba players at the Rockefeller Center today.

It was great seeing tourists in Hofbrau Haus sharing a moment of beer-no-war with the Germans. The trip was fascinating and full of adventures.

Few Sketches

This may have been only a sketch from my active imagination but you would not forget such scene if you have ever experienced starvation as a child.

Drawing of a Lost Child

This is my pet Python treboreajnos, she is about three years old and I call her "snakeie". She spends most of her time sleeping, jetsam and flotsam love pacing around her crib and trying to wake her up.

Staying Home For The Morning

Today is a grainy day. I stayed home for the entire morning just sat around and sketched the cats playing their sneaky little games. I decided to call them jetsam and flotsam, it sounded better than everything else people made up for them.

Revised Painting

This painting has been an ongoing project for almost a month now and just yesterday I realized the proportion of the figure was off, so it was a new start from there...I made some changes to the pose so the person's face would be half exposed instead of hidden behind the paper. Anyhow, I need to finish this project and move back on to my commission works, these deadlines are coming soon.
