Harvey Milk never saw the candles of his 50th birthday. He was murdered.
Harvey Milk died for freedom and equal rights, not just your freedom and rights but
for everybody who might be different and have suffered discrimination at the hands of pretentious bigots who try to repress other's civil rights.
Milk was martyred for a cause he fought for and believed in; if everyone were afraid of pushing non-conventional beliefs for fear of losing their jobs, their lives or their reputation then there would be no hope for progress or victory of any social movement.
People that demean others with nasty comments and prejudicial judgments based solely on cultural differences, lifestyle choices or ethnic origins, should be exposed with the same determination and passion that Milk did in exposing the injustice experienced by the gay community.
Especially for those who disregard civil rights and the feelings of others, while disguising their prejudice. Honestly, can people who share a common liberty be expected to tolerate such intolerance?
