A Conversation With Julia Schwartz

As an artist trained to draw and paint from both imagination and life, I am always attracted to color, form, light(contrast) and relationship. "Color" makes me happy, or it can be counter productive. "Form" produces energy and turns the untangible to something we can visualize. "Light" exists in contrast with shadow, it is the essence of Chiaroscuro -- something every artist dreams to master. And, "relationship" is the most important of all. Just as we are all placed in some kind of relationship with families, friends or co-workers, our paintings and sculptures are also in those symbiotic relationships. However, I can never let myself paint like Julia Schwartz. Not professionally, at least. I don't understand many painters and their work. I can say that I am attracted to them, but I am unable to comprehend what is really going on in the artist's head.  However here is an interview by John Heed with Julia Schawartz I found interesting.
