It's not EASY to draw or paint on the beach...I'm not bored, I'm attracted by too many things, the sun shine, the waves, the pebbles and that salty, fresh scent of the ocean. I don't care for the bread & cheese in the morning, but I absolutely adore the Café au lait in the aternoon.

Summer fun thing check list +1
"Ponyo" (Gake no ue no Ponyo) was named "Goldfish on the cliff" in Japanese. It opened worldwide this week. Director Hayao Miyazaki continues to create magical children's adventure with an amazing crew of animators. How exciting :) Take your kids to this movie, there is no violence or cursing, and you probably don't have to worry about buying the "Ponyo action figure". :)

The Odd Couple, People Sketches
"The odd couple" is a drawing inspired by many "odd couples" I have observed on the streets. Whether they are families, lovers, tenants and landlords, I found it all very fascinating to put them in my drawings. I personally like to think they are all lovers, just taking a walk together before dinner.

Ink Wash-Street Scene II, people caricature
I am doing a bit more ink washes these days because the paper I'm using is amazing!
People...you can never get enough of them. Each and every one of these people have their own life story, some maybe dramatic, some maybe plain, but it is all drawn on their faces and in their gestures. This is what I love about sketching people in public, they are relaxed and not pretentious.

Ink Wash-Street Scene
Every year at this time I begin to talk about how much I enjoy Thanksgiving and Christmas. I start feeling very sentimental toward fall and winter, especially the fall season, it is without a doubt my favorite season of all. Winter is too lonely to me, for the four month out of the year with nothing but long and unbearable solitude of both temperature and atmosphere . Ah, who am I to worry about this? I am in the middle of the summer, the happiest season of all :)

Recent Sketches III
We met Mr.Sennelier in his art supply store! 12 Years ago he went to the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts for a presentation. He said he has been back to visit a friend in Philadelphia and will be happy to see the new Academy building :)

SNAP SHOTS + SCHOOL TALK
Digital reference to the "Hawk Project". We took about 35 pictures from the back of PMA, facing the south direction. The sun set wasn't particularly strong but we were able to capture a series of snap shots before the haze took over. This image is a collage of the fragments of the images produced from yesterday's shooting. The original model gave me permission to photograph her in the studio, therefore I have the pose set perfectly but the background was somehow neglected...now I have something to look between...

In the past I have talked to several perspective students about PAFA's Scholarship and Financial Aid Program...One of the biggest reason I am studying at PAFA now, to finish my certificate program and possible MFA is because PAFA gave me a full "Merit Scholarship" and Grants based on my PORTFOLIO and GPA (3.59) when I applied. (Your portfolio is extremely important!!) I also had class credit transferred, which made me a sophomore to begin with (From Animation to Fine Art, nothing is impossible!). With all of my scholarship, State grants, fed loans, my three years of college education at PAFA is ENTIRELY covered with some money left over each semester to pay living expenses.(Use that to pay your intrest from Fed un-subsidized loan, that will save you at least $3000)
So here you have it, to anyone out there who is undecided or still hunting around for "GOOD DEALS", consider PAFA. For people who can afford to give your children a free ride to the colleges, perhaps you should consider making a small donation to PAFA to support other less-financially advantaged students.

Oil Study 1
I need reference!! I was working from a series of digital references which made the
initial composition easy to layout, now I need more to be able to render the tone and value (color). In order to get a really rich, warm, powerful shots of the actual sun-set, we will probably have to go somewhere like Valley Forge or Water Front, or even Tour Eiffel...I hope we don't run into some PETA members, after all, this is for a good cause.

"In The Loop" is a hilarious political satire. Since it's a comedy, a crew of very animated actors and actresses were chose to play the roles (sadly, no "Larry the cable guy"). James Gandolfini for instance, plays Lt. Gen. George Miller. This particular role was basically created to portray a "political mafia", a "loud barking origami tiger". All depictions of characters in the film are mostly based on some politicians in real life. Gandofini's character was probably based on Colin Powell, except Colin Powell did resign and never really suppoterted the troops. The film, is after all, a comedy, not some heavy truth-ripping moral-pounding documentary films like "Super Size Me". It does provide some closure to the audiences, with seemingly casual cinematography, motion cams and fast editing made to resemble a documentary film, to the world of crazy politician who is literally working 24-7 around the globe to solve important issues. Don't bring you kids to see this film, just don't. (unless the kid can be sedated whenever there is cursing, which just about throughout the entire film)
Do watch it if you have a free evening and someone willing to buy the pop-corn :)
