NYAA OPEN STUDIO NIGHT

The New York Academy of Art is pleased to invite you to our annual MFA Open Studio event on Friday, April 29th from 5-9pm. On the heels of Tribeca Ball 2011, five floors and over seventy studios will be open to the public and will present an amazing array of artwork from more than 100 of New York’s most talented emerging artists.We’re so excited about our third annual Open Studios at the Academy that we want to share some studio love with everyone! Show us YOUR Studio for a chance to win a free Academy t-shirt. Any and every studio will do! Email charis@nyaa.edu a picture of your studio, or upload a photo and tag it to the New York Academy of Art’s wall on facebook. Your studio shot will be entered in a raffle to win a free Academy t-shirt. RECENT STUFF AND BIRTHDAY WISH

Recent anatomical class drawings. These are some 2 minutes gesture drawings which I always enjoyed doing, then a longer pose..hopefully I will be teaching in the Fall, fingers crossed..!

On another note, last year I wished to make peace with people whom I have burdened. Well, I thought instead of wishing and do nothing, I should take the "active approach". ( That went no where as expected). This year, I wish to unburden myself from the "conundrum". People are free to love you, hate you, talk about you and be jealous of you, that's life. As much as from the inside of my heart that I very much want to see feuds forgiven, broken relationships rebuilt, sometimes it just won't happen...

Recent Sketches

Had a great day at the Met last weekend. Independent study then lunch with my NYAA ladies. Sadly my first painting "the dancer" is apparently started to crack on the surface, the primer being too thick seems to be the problem here. (Got the roll from Pearl) I have decided to take Steven Assael's suggestion to repaint the whole thing.

3 Minute Gusture Drawings

Big part of the fun of figure drawing is capturing the rhythm of the movement-- whatever the pose is, there is a sense of rhythm beneath that structure. To capture the rhythm, is to over look the details and focus on the BIG MOVEMENT. I was a bit rusty to begin with, but after 3 or 4 or them it was just pure joyfulness.
