Picasso and the Avant-Garde in Paris Sketch
Sunday's preview of "Picasso and the Avant-Garde in Paris" at PMA (Philadelphia Museum of Art) was as crowded and last year. The exhibition, which will run to Apr 25, is enormous in term of both quantity and quality. It also included works by Marc Chagall, Jacques Lipchitz, Patrick Henry Bruce, and Man Ray. And, I am very very happy to see some female surrealist, cubists artist's work. in the past they were mostly overlooked and ignored.
However, I do wonder what I am staring at when in a Cubist and surrealist exhibition like this. To me, the most important thing about this category of art differs from the "old master" work, is that the era of the work. The politic background behind the work itself is a direct motif that motivated artists like Picasso to create works that represent what was happening to the people, and to the artist. The technique of painting or drawing is no longer relevant, rather the subject became more significant to these artists. Thanks to the automated guide, it feeds you what you need to know about the art works. However, it also brain washes you, leaving very little imagination space that allows one to continue explore and be curious.

Doodles, from the streets
I've been really busy lately as my graduation is approaching in the speed of lightning. I spend most of my time attending classes, catching up credits, and be confined to my studio. (What super bowl??) Right now I need all the time in the world to prepare for my last ASE, then the world can have it after May :)
