*Diving, officially known as simulation, is the act of faking a foul or injury in soccer.
Its supporters call it strategy, its detractors call it cheap (and the players that practice it worse), but a soccer player is well served in knowing how to draw the referee's ire to the opposition.
I love soccer!! Back in middle school I was the class team gatekeeper (the only girl in school), well let's just say the job wasn't easy, while it was absolutely unforgettably fun! Now back to the topic: I think it is fair to say that every soccer player encounters diving or becomes a diver at some point of their career, it can exhibit the over all spirits of a team and whether they honer the true sportsmanship. Now some videos to show how it is done on today's battlefield and diving reenactment by aspiring divers.
Our good pal Stephanie is getting married (finally) soon, she has been busy arranging her wedding since last year. Like all women, she wants a perfect ceremony and a dream like reception, and she is not about to have any regret about the best day in a her life (maybe not literately her entire life). The cartoon below describes my up-to-date feeling about her upcoming wedding.
Dear Steph, it's your biggest day, and you deserve to be a "Bridezilla"! :) love you guys :) Steph en Ben! :)
Since "Real World" debuted on MTV, Reality television has becoming a common phenomenon of the entertainment world. To many young people who crave for attention, reality televisions can provide them with instant fame, publicity and scandal that even promote more fame. As you probably know, Bravo TV has had a successful trail of reality television series:
"Top Chef"
“The Real Housewives of New York City,”“The Real Housewives of New Jersey”(no need for pictures, you've figured)
... Now, their latest product "Work of art"
"Work of art" is a reality television that gathers today's "finest" and "most creative" hip, young artist in all colors, making them compete with each other and ultimately, create a winner. The winner gets access to "opportunities" to jobs and media exposure, which will be crucial to he/she's future success. The series is hosted by China Chow ,(see her bio here, accuracy not guaranteed ). China gets the main legislative right to select and deselect who is going on to the next show or not. Her criteria of being a art critic? None. She is an model/actress though. Having had no actual experience in art (I'm sure she's very good at judging), China Chow is merely a pretty face on the show with little or no content. You might think that I am being biased again these artist. No, I am totally biased against the Cable Network (in this case, Bravo)who recruited these artist. First of all, the show is for rating, and rating= Ad time = money. Second, "Art" is a vast term that includes old mater art, contemporary art and modern art. In modern art, "idea" and "theoretical contemplation" are major part of the work, not necessarily the creative process or the finished product . Modern art is a statement of self expression, thus no one can critic based upon a uniformed system. YOU CAN NOT SAY THIS PERSON'S ABSTRACT PAINTING IS BETTER THAN THAT PERSON'S ABSTRACT PAINTING. Because there is no answer to how to express one's feeling. Of course, we all have something we favor over other things--for instance, I like the works by Jackson Pollock, I also enjoy the works by Georgia o'keefe. Woluld I paint like them? Maybe if I am drunk and high one day. Nonetheless, the Bravo show is not serious about art, because they have no respect for art nor regard for artists. They pick this category only because it hasn't been overly cultivated like the "house wives". I can't bare watching one episode of "Work of art", my eyes tear seeing these young artist being misdirected, manipulated and judged by Bravo, given high hope then get kicked out because of some "televised art committee" and a model host. LEAVE THESE ARTISTS ALONE!!
Friend of mine was telling me how she hated slugs, especially the "wet trail" they seem to always leave behind. I don't know where the slugs live in an Urban area, possibly close to the snail family? Nor I want to know :( Anyway, the thought of an "Urban slug" inspired this cartoon.
I named my very first wood panel work- "Cat, Mouse,Bird and Tree". It's amazing how much work there is to do wood carving. The idea of this work is about balance, the hardest thing to achieve yet we are facing everyday.
This is not a joke, it really happened. A person leaves his car in a un-metered urban neighborhood for shopping, hours later he returns and finds himself greeted by a good couple of parking tickets...
